The Operational Intelligence product team at TIBCO recently participated in a team-building exercise with a difference. The theme of this exercise was “Build Great Bikes” (as well as great software). We decided together that we wanted this exercise to be one with a higher social purpose, that reflected our ethos as a team:
- Support each other in everything we do.
- Focus on excellence in everything we do.
- Deliver high quality products (in this case, bikes) that we can all be proud of.
- Have fun delivering our products.
- Continue to learn new skills every day.
True to our competitive spirit, we broke up into small teams and competed to build 14 children’s bikes in a span of about 90 min. After that, we tested these bikes around a mini test track, and finally came up with a sales pitch. After a very productive couple of hours, we assembled to celebrate and donate these bikes to the Silicon Valley Bike Coalition, who in turn will give them to children whose families can’t afford bicycles of their own.
It was another great day at TIBCO…taking what we do day in and day out, and applying it in a different way. It was proof that with good leadership, good ideas, and an even better team, together we can build anything.
