TIBCO at the Olympics: The Body Shop Goes For Gold with TIBCO LogLogic

Reading Time: 3 minutes

At the Olympics, before all the intense competition can lead to worldwide celebrity and glory, each athlete has to endure strenuous preparation and training. They train for years to make sure their bodies are in peak physical condition. As fans whom enthusiastically cheer on representatives of our nations, we may not have the physiques of such athletes, but we can join in by nourishing, beautifying, and protecting our bodies with the help of companies like The Body Shop.

The Body Shop International is a global manufacturer and retailer of naturally inspired, ethically produced beauty and cosmetics products. The Body Shop has almost 2,500 stores in more than 60 countries. However, in order for this international company to go for the gold as any Olympic athlete, they need a trainer and coach helping them along. TIBCO is their world-class trainer on the sidelines who brings out the very best in their contender to get perfect 10s in their industry.

You can’t just simply show up at the starting block of an Olympic race, or dive into the pool and race alongside Phelps and Lochte, but need to train hard to just qualify. Similarly, The Body Shop could not just start selling products without living up to certain standards, and one such regulation they had to achieve was Payment Credit Industry (PCI) compliance. You can imagine PCI compliance as a qualifying race where a company has to meet criteria to ensure they can handle credit cardholder information for major debit and credit cards. Ultimately, the industry security standard was created to prevent credit card fraud. Before the referees at the Payment Card Industry Standards Council could blow the whistle on The Body Shop, TIBCO LogLogic prevented all false starts in helping them achieve full PCI compliance.

In order to protect consumer credit card data, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) mandates ensure that organizations have a logging solution to provide visibility into security events. Before using LogLogic, The Body Shop did not have any PCI log management solution in place. They knew they could not win any races without a trainer, so they set out to find one. They needed something intuitive and easy enough to maintain by internal employees with a wide range of skill-sets. Also, the solution needed to be able to store vast amounts of data securely, without spending more money for storage. LogLogic not only provided the tools needed to meet these challenges, but also allowed the company to assure customers that their credit card information is secure by helping the IT team discover and troubleshoot many other system issues. Not only has the logging solution trimmed time of the company’s performance, but has perfected their form.

LogLogic’s software truly lived up to the Olympic motto Citius, Altius, Fortius, which is Latin for Faster, Higher, Stronger. The solution was quick to implement, easy-to-use, offered high amounts of storage space, and robust enough to handle large volumes of data. Furthermore, the tool is low-maintenance and does not need expensive or lengthy training. The company established PCI compliance in the Americas with TIBCO, but plans to turn its attention to their stores in the UK. Now that they have passed the qualifying rounds, The Body Shop has its eyes set on gold in the London Olympics in the category of beauty and cosmetic products.
