Use Business Intelligence on Business Intelligence for Business Intelligence

Research firm IDC has recently published a report that details that organizations do not know how to measure the benefits of business analytics projects.  IDC conducted a big survey, 6,400 end-users and found that more than a third had no idea how to measure the benefits of their business analytics spend.  Wow.  This is really shocking to us.

As IDC points out: “The irony of this conclusion is clear.  Technology vendors and consultants need to focus on applying business intelligence and analytics on the business analytics projects to ensure that BI groups are able to clearly articulate the benefits to their constituents and ensure ongoing funding of projects.”

How do you measure the benefits of your business analytics spend?  Do you actually use your business intelligence tools on your business intelligence projects or are you afraid of disrupting the space-time continuum by doing something so crazy?
