strategies for employee engagement
Getting a group of people to do something new is often an exercise in frustration — even when that thing can make their life easier. And that’s the case with an Enterprise Social Networks sometimes.

Since ESNs are fairly new technology that’s a big change from the old ways of doing things, people frequently need a little push to get them into the swing of it. So I’ve come up with a few strategies to get people started:

  1. Have a “Micro Innovation Day” (or Week/Month) – Encourage employees to share any ideas they have about ways to increase revenues or decreases costs — then use tibbr Ideas to help formalize the ideation process.
  2. Request “Did you know…?” posts – Ask employees to post little-known aspects of their job, recent accomplishments, or any assets they’ve created to encourage more awareness of everyone’s roles, abilities, and to surface information that could help others.
  3. Organize a live, Town Hall meeting – Create a topic or theme and ask a few Subject Matter Experts to share their experience/thoughts  and answer questions — make it organization-wide, or just within a department or team.

Okay, that should kick things off, but let’s get a conversation going — so what strategies have YOU successfully used to encourage users to post and participate more? Add them in the comments below!
