TIBCO NOW 2014 is in San Francisco, California this year. It started November 3rd and ends November 5th. This year’s theme is about the disruptive forces that technology and data will bring to enterprises around the world.
Yesterday was day one of TIBCO NOW 2014 and featured the Analytics NOW keynote with talks from actual Spotfire users like Illuminate Education, Parexel, and others. This session allowed them to share how they use Spotfire to manage their data and make better business decisions on a daily basis.
Mark Walls, COO with Illuminate Education talked about how their company is “an education company that is doing technology”. Illuminate Education provides web-based products and services that are designed for educators. They had a quest to answer the question, “How do we take business intelligence (BI) and put it in the hands of people that don’t understand BI?”
Using their old methods, reports were hand coded and took a long time to be created. However, with Jaspersoft, “This type of data can change classroom instruction on a day-to-day basis,” says Walls.
Next, Niklas Amberntsson, Sr. Product Manager at TIBCO talked about how “the user just needs to find what is interesting and Spotfire will visualize the data.” Using Spotfire for visualizations, “you can learn more about your data by seeing it from different angles.”
Naresh Khamesra, Director of Clinical Application Development and Technology at Parexel discussed how Spotfire helps their company by increasing productivity and quality of their clinical trials, helps them make faster and better decisions, and provides optimized scenarios. This is very valuable to a company that operates in over 76 locations in 50 countries and with over 15,000 employees.
Mike Boyarski, Director of Product Marketing spoke about how the interoperability between TIBCO Spotfire and TIBCO Jaspersoft will allow Spotfire to manage data sources that feed Jaspersoft Pixel Perfect reports and extend insights as reports to more people.
