Saw a newsitem today that reminded me of the importance of interpreting events correctly.
According to the BBC news, a lady in Paris got stuck locked in her bathroom (no, don’t laugh!). So the lady banged on the water pipes to alert the neighbours.
Only the neighbours thought she was doing DIY, indeed all through the night… and for a total of 20 nights until she was at last rescued by the Paris firefighters / les Pompiers.
The neighbourly response to these distress signals? Apparently they started a petition to get them stopped…
