The Role of User Interface in Business Intelligence Tools

BEyeNetwork recently announced the availability of a new business intelligence research report by business intelligence industry expert and Founder of BIScorecard, Cindi Howson.  The report, “Ease of Use and Interface Appeal in Business Intelligence Tools,” defines ease of use and interface appeal and discusses the current business intelligence tool market.

Howson points out an interesting paradox: user interface is rated consistently as very important to end users.  Yet, business intelligence tools are often rated as one of the most difficult to use relative to other technologies.  The report also points out a direct correlation between business intelligence ease-of-use and pervasive business intelligence adoption.

The business intelligence report also includes:

  • A framework for key deliverables to quantify what end users desire in a business intelligence tool;
  • User interface’s role in making business intelligence pervasive; and
  • Ways to increase business intelligence adoption.

The business intelligence report surveyed 225 respondents about the features important to them and opinions on business intelligence tools and key features for user interfaces.

Read the report and let us know what you think.
