Text-matching company Netrics has joined the TIBCO family, and joins the organisation as a member of the CEP and MDM solutions (QL) group. Netrics does text matching and is traditionally used for things like data cleansing (de-duping customer records, for example, in TIBCO CIM).
However, there is another angle to Netrics:
- Netrics does high-speed indexing (in-memory) and high performance matching. Ergo, it can be run in an “event-driven” mode for both indexing AND matching.
- Netrics provides what they call a Decision Engine for fuzzy matching. Fuzzy matches can therefore be made against complex events and known scenarios, or from source events and known complex events.
So what are the application areas for this “best-fit symbolic matching” technology in CEP? How about baggage handling where you need to map some spoken name to a customer record. Or interpreting news feeds and tweets for significant news content. Hmmm, perhaps we should have a contest to see who can come up with the most compelling use case!
