Meet a TIBCO NOW Speaker: Malcolm Gladwell

    Reading Time: 2 minutes

TIBCO NOW is coming up on November 3rd-5th, and we can’t wait. One of the best parts of TIBCO NOW, and any conference for that matter, is being able to hear from experts in your field and get a fresh perspective. As part of an ongoing series, we’d like to tell you a little bit about the speakers you’ll be seeing at the event.

    Malcolm Gladwell

speaker-malcomlThe author of those books your boss keeps bugging you to read, Malcolm Gladwell is one of the biggest names in non-fiction. With his engaging, yet accessible style of writing, Gladwell uses real world examples to understand and illustrate the everyday phenomena in our lives. With extensive research and scientific evidence, Gladwell finds relatable answers to big questions about the way we think and behave.

With a background in journalism at The Washington Post, Gladwell first gained popularity when he became a writer at The New Yorker in 1996. One of his earliest pieces, “The Tipping Point,” about how little things can make a big difference, was eventually turned into his first book.

After the success of The Tipping Point, Malcolm wrote several other bestsellers including Blink, Outliers, and What the Dog Saw. These books delve into how intuition can be better than knowledge, why some people are destined for greatness, and how a different way of thinking can make all the difference.

In his latest book, David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants, Malcolm studies how unlikely people achieve great things despite immense odds against them. It dovetails perfectly with this year’s TIBCO NOW theme: “Enterprise Disrupt.”

Come to TIBCO NOW 2014 to hear Malcolm Gladwell’s take on disruption, and what you should be doing about it.
