TIBCO SOA Solution Better, Faster than IBM and Oracle

Independent, large comparative studies on software solutions are hard to come by, which is why PushToTest’s latest on SOA platforms has gotten so much attention.  If you have ever wondered how the various SOA platforms on the market compare, here is your chance.

In this side-by-side productivity comparison, the test concluded that building new applications with TIBCO’s SOA solution was 29% faster than Oracle and 22% faster than IBM.  This was no real surprise to us, but it was great to get this 3rd-party validation of what we  at TIBCO as well as our customers have known for years–TIBCO SOA provides the fastest time to results, reduces complexity, and offers the lowest total cost of ownership of any SOA solution.

With today’s IT decision-making environment following a more-with-less trend, while still meeting, and even exceeding, the time-to-market objectives set forth by the business, this study is incredibly timely.  We have always offered event-driven software based on modeling, which now with the market driving to lower costs and faster implementation makes TIBCO the natural choice.  The developers in the test appreciated TIBCO’s model-oriented approach, which means no time-consuming code manipulation unlike Oracle’s solution, which required intensive Java editing.

IBM and Oracle’s programming background holds them back when trying to compete with TIBCO in the increasingly fast-paced world of development, causing their products to take more time and increase development costs.  TIBCO’s whole architecture is built on the ideals of rapid implementation and lack of complexity for incredibly fast and easy changes down the line of a solutions lifecycle.  A Gartner study estimated, 92% of an application’s cost is after the initial delivery in the 10-15 years of its lifecycle.  While IBM and Oracle continue to attempt to modify their products without changing their fundamental code-centric philosophy, we at TIBCO have always been model and event-driven and remain poised to tackle 21st century problems faster and easier.

For example, adding HTTPS/SSL security to the TIBCO solution took 78% less developer time than adding the same to Oracle’s solution and 85% less than for IBM’s.  TIBCO SOA platform was proven to be the easiest to tweak and modify providing easy maintenance across the lifecycle of the solution.

PushToTest open-sourced the test kit so anyone can replicate the test on their own to add validation to the results, even IBM or Oracle if they so choose.
