In 2010, after a 55-year hiatus, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Team made its return to motorsport racing and to Formula One as a formal constructor.
During the ensuing 10 years, as Formula One racing cars continued to advance in sophistication and complexity, the amount of data available to teams significantly increased.
