PAUL HARTMANN AG to Double the Launch of New Products Simultaneously in More Than Two Dozen Markets With TIBCO Software
Medical Solution Provider Leverages Product Information Management to Reinvent its Provider Model to Deliver Customized All-in-One Solutions and Fit-to-Purpose Services
TIBCO Software Inc. [NASDAQ:TIBX] today announced PAUL HARTMANN AG, a leading provider of medical and healthcare products, has leveraged TIBCO master data management, workflow and portal components to build a flexible solution, reforming the way the company introduces new products and solutions into the global medical device market.
With TIBCO's technology, HARTMANN has been able to speed up the launch of new products across regions and markets by significantly improving information sharing between development, marketing, sales and production teams. The availability of additional product information has also helped HARTMANN to eliminate the duplication and redundancy of products, resulting in overall manufacturing and procurement savings. The company will also be able to add products that are not manufactured by HARTMANN to the new product information database.
Fortified by the speed in which the company can now introduce and distribute bundled solutions to the 33 countries in which it operates, HARTMANN has laid the platform for new revenue generation and is able to find new sources of growth – a challenge for companies that operate in a highly regulated and consolidated industries.
The new product introduction platform also enables HARTMANN to:
- introduce more products simultaneously throughout the world with extensions to account for regional variations;
- ensure launch deadlines are reliably met and downstream errors are minimized;
- manage rich information that was previously not possible, such as product usage, benefits and target segments;
- compile and store unified information in a master database, enabling other areas of the organization to leverage clean statistical data and product details for new projects.
HARTMANN Improves Processes, Amplifies Operations
HARTMANN manages the distribution of more than 20,000 products worldwide each year. With limited human resources to introduce a variety of new products in foreign markets (each with different country-specific requirements), the mid-sized company was forced to stagger launches in different markets at different times. This method, however, presented the company with limited sales opportunities, tied staff capacity for long periods of time and made it difficult to reliably forecast production schedules and manage the supply chain.
To dismantle these challenges, HARTMANN achieved a high level of process control and visibility into its operations by:
- implementing process control with TIBCO's business process management (BPM) technology, coupled with a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Prompting all contributors to supply information at various points throughout a launch, the right information reaches the right process at the right time – powering collaboration throughout the business, speeding product time-to-market and enabling the company to increase sales and profitability by simultaneously launching solutions in different markets worldwide;
- consolidating duplicate information with a product information management solution, TIBCO's master data management (MDM) technology. Armed with clean master data, various groups within the organization can leverage accurate product information in real-time.
"We needed an IT solution that supported our complex product launch process and helped us to significantly improve the collaboration between product marketing, sales, product development and production planning," said Dr. Hendrik Rosenboom, Senior Vice President Process and Information Management at the HARTMANN GROUP. "Using TIBCO software, our product marketing group is now in a better position to introduce more new products simultaneously across international markets."
"The project at HARTMANN is a striking example of how successful technology deployments start with a core process to ultimately create a flexible foundation for further optimization, and a quick return on investment," explained Fabio Pulidori, Senior Vice President, EMEA Field Operations at TIBCO. "By implementing greater process control across all product launch contributors – from development, to production, planning, and from marketing and sales – HARTMANN is able to ensure the right information in the right context is supplied at just the right time, so that enough products are produced leading up to the launch date and are distributed to the warehouse worldwide."
