Eighty percent or more of the effort of creating a report, visualization, or analysis is about preparing the data. But with Spotfire, instead of doing a lot of processing to get it right, two or three clicks and you have it. Other tools are very good at presenting data, but you need an additional tool to do the data wrangling.

Kamarble Develops Happy Customers with Instant Spotfire Cloud Analytics

Analytics that sells itself and provides everything clients need

Challenge

"My customers often struggle with technology," says CEO Jose Leviaguirre. "Because it changes so fast, and there are so many different options, they need good, easy-to-use tools. If they can't find the right solution or the guidance, and do thorough research, they can end up losing a lot of money. It can impact their revenue, and they might lose clients.

Solution

"Our relationship with TIBCO Spotfire® started when we saw what it could do. Coming from a programming background, we saw the potential. You can turn around projects very easily in a matter of days versus months with other tools.

"More and more customers want big-data analytics because of the Internet of Things. They want to see the data right away and do analytics on it. I recommend going to Spotfire Cloud first because there is no risk. It's free for 30 days. That's enough time to get a solution up and running. If you decide to have an on-premises version or a mix of both, it's easy to change and deploy, and very easy to connect to other data sources.

Benefits

Sells Itself

"Spotfire can sell itself. Most of the time when you offer a solution, you give a static presentation, not an interactive one. Kamarble offers an interactive solution as part of the presentation—because we spend as much time preparing a presentation as we would preparing a report using Spotfire. As an example, we were giving a demonstration, and suddenly the conversation turned from technical to business matters because interesting facts start to show up right away, and they start asking questions. I was basically out of the conversation because they were discussing business issues among themselves. Then they suddenly wanted to see how the stock market was affecting their operations. I said, 'Yeah. No problem. Let’s do it.' I had a script ready, so I copy paste it and started pulling data in, and we started doing analysis. The tool and my services were selling themselves. They weren't even asking 'How did you do that?' They were asking about business because the technical aspects just worked.

Instant Engagement

"Instead of giving them a proposal, we give them a POC that in many cases turns into a solution. If they want it, they can take it. They are very happy because they don't expect a finished product they can use at the presentation stage. Kamarble benefits from the consulting services. When they can't go further with self service, we can help them. We engage with more customers, and our non-IT customers see the value right away. Getting them up the learning curve is fairly fast.

Everything Customers Need

"Eighty percent or more of a report, visualization, or analysis effort is about preparing the data. But with Spotfire, instead of doing a lot of processing to get it right, two or three clicks and you have it. Other tools are very good at presenting data, but you need an additional tool to do the data wrangling. If you have a nice looking visualization, but the data is wrong, it's kind of useless. Tableau uses a third party tool for the data preparation that Spotfire already has in one single package, out of the box. You have the visual aspect and a powerful statistical engine. And now with HTML5, you can integrate all kinds of data and customize everything.

"Customers have structured and unstructured data, sensor data that they want in real time, and other types of data—temperature, humidity—that comes with geolocation. I was in a meeting where one guy asked 'Can you plug the device locations on the map?' I said, 'Yes, we can do that.' He says, 'OK, I'll be back,' as if he thought it would take a while. He was joking—but it took just a couple of clicks.

"My customers benefit because it's so easy to get data from different data sources. Another great feature is the OData connector where you can just copy-paste the link to get all the data right there in memory out of the box. If there is no connector available, as long as the data source is RESTful through some custom API, you can parse it and present right away with a little scripting. Or you might get lucky finding a connector, someone already made, because with Spotfire's API flexibility and extensibility is not just a tool, but a platform.

Future

"Kamarble's business focus right now is to grow, and the way to grow using Spotfire is as a strategic tool for the Latin-American community. As soon as they see a tool that is affordable and easy to use, it creates easy engagement, and the more clients we engage, the better the company will do."
