Food Manufacturer Milks Value from TIBCO Analytics
Improved decision-making, savings in time and effort, greater productivity
This food manufacturer needed to take all its financial, capacity, demand, processes, and product dependencies into consideration in order to most efficiently turn raw milk received from its 19,000 members into consumer products.
The company turned to TIBCO Spotfire analytics to ensure that complex data is visible, and insights can be derived automatically to help people make better and more frequent decisions, which transformed the planning process.
The company's objective is to maximize the valorization of its milk supply, quantifying its value in euros. With Spotfire software, it increased the speed and robustness of analyses, resulting in decision-making based on value that benefits the entire company.
Improved inventory management
"Before Spotfire software, we could not verify all our stock, the age of stock throughout the company. We can now look at complete in-store inventory and see where a problem is arising," said the planner.
Savings in time and effort, greater productivity
The company can now look at data in the same way across all planning hubs, and the company is using the same planning KPIs and visualizations. It can also aggregate data across hubs, which before was extremely difficult and time-consuming. With Spotfire software, it spends a lot less time collecting, processing, and analyzing data, and more time using and acting on it. Time and effort for generating reports and interpreting the data reduced by about 30 percent.
"There's been a big improvement in productivity as a result of being able to make data-driven decisions and having the standardization. Because milk runs through all parts of the company, aggregating data the way this software does is the real benefit,” said the planner.

Actionable insights for everyone
"We have worked with Excel for many years, so the Spotfire system had to be very user-friendly," says the director. "Key benefits are its visualizations and its analytical ability. On one hand, it's sophisticated for the analytical expertise, and on the other, it's simple for the daily user, helping bring insights that are immediately actionable and easy to interpret."
