Sr Product Designer and Researcher


Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced, dynamic and innovative Senior Product Designer & Researcher who can function as a hands-on leader in our Product organization.

What You'll Do

●      General

  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Work with extreme attention to detail and a high standard of quality.

●      Design

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and the members of the Design and Research teams to design product experiences from conception until launch and iterate  on thse experiences for subsequent releases.
  • Work with product managers to define strategy and vision from a UX perspective. You don’t just care about “how it looks,” or “what we should design,” but ask “why are we designing this at all?”
  • Translate requirements ranging from nebulous concepts to specific ideas into product experiences that meet our customers’ needs.
  • Design systems, workflows and interfaces that are modern, intuitive and useful.
  • Lead mid-level project work from a design perspective with autonomy and authority, facilitating design studios and working sessions to help the teams deliver the best  possible solutions.
  • Develop appropriate design artifacts and document specifications, as appropriate, to transition designs to Engineering during development.
  • Take user research, technical constraints and business objectives into consideration when designing for our customers. 
  • Confidently share and justify design decisions while being open to other team members’ ideas and collaboration.

●      Research

  • Work with Research, Design, Product Management, and other team members to identify research needs.
  • Take team and business needs, timing, priority, and any constraints into consideration when planning and designing research.
  • Determine which method(s) to use based on the research need and understand the associated benefits and drawbacks.
  • Lead and/or support studies end-to-end: planning, design, recruitment, execution, analysis, and sharing of insights and recommendations.
  • Use a variety of methods to share research insights and recommendations.
  • Be a resource for team members to share what we know about our customers based on our team’s research.


Who You Are


  • At least 5-8 years of practical product or UX design & research experience with a technology product.
  • Experience working with complex/highly technical products and designing and conducting research for highly technical users.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced organization and on multiple projects at a time.
  • Self-motivated to continuously learn and grow as a designer & researcher and provide inspiration to other team members
  • Design
  • Applied experience in documenting complete flows, use cases and UX/UI specifications.
  • Applied experience with service design practices and a mindset of constantly evolving your design process.
  • Extensive understanding of design methodologies such as concepting, prototyping, user research.
  • Knowledge of W3C 508 Compliance guidelines and design techniques to ensure the product is accessible by all customers.
  • A passion for mentoring to deliver a better, more user-centered product.
  • Excellent communication, rapid prototyping and data visualization skills. You can bring internal stakeholders on your design journey and support your decisions with      focus and brevity.
  • Extensive knowledge of UI Design tools, e.g., Sketch (preferred), Figma, XD, Invision, etc.
  • Experience with front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) a plus, or use of prototyping tools that approximate them.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates your UX/UI/VD thought process across mobile, desktop or cloud-based applications as well as your understanding of design methodology and principles.
  • Research
  • Applied experience conducting qualitative research.
  • Applied experience selecting the appropriate research method(s) for a study.
  • Applied experience designing and executing generative & evaluative research end-to-end using methods such as, but not limited to, interviews, contextual inquiry, focus groups, surveys, and usability testing.
  • Applied experience distilling ambiguous questions or concepts into research objectives.
  • Understanding of how to size a study and what the related benefits and drawbacks may be.
  • Applied experience defining recommendations based on research you conducted.
  • Applied experience sharing research insights and recommendations with team members from varied disciplines such as Product Management, Design, and            Engineering.

 Nice to Haves

  • Experience working in agile software teams.
  • Experience with product management tools like Confluence and JIRA.
  • Experience supporting QA teams, i.e., first level testing, creating defect and enhancement tickets.
  • Experience with product roadmap planning.
  • Experience working with front-end developers, delivering functional specifications, wireframes, mockups and other supporting assets.
  • Comfort with quantitative research methods such as A/B testing and analytics.
  • Experience conducting research at scale.
