QA Engineer

As a QA engineer, you are eager to get started and learn by working alongside senior team members and exploring the product and internal documentation.

What You'll Do

As an experienced engineer you are accustomed to possibly juggling multiple tasks that may include: researching, isolating problems/debugging, and using creativity and skill to solve problems.  You are also mindful to help the team succeed by assisting others and mentoring junior team members as needed.

  • Work with members of the Development Team, Quality Assurance Team, Product Management Team, and other TIBCO Statistica team members as needed

  • Quickly learn about Statistica products and customer use cases so that you can discern between correct and incorrect product behavior and can focus on the types of issues that are the most important to prevent or find and fix 

  • Design useful, efficient tests that catch software bugs as early in the process as possible, leveraging automation tools when it makes sense to do so

  • Participate in and actively contribute to design & requirements discussions, code reviews, and root cause analysis sessions

  • Take a leadership role in the release process of new versions and hotfixes, ensuring that fixed issues are properly confirmed

Who You Are

  • Some experience/familiarity with computer programming

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability and desire to learn new material quickly, making use of our internal reference guides, search engines, and asking for help from senior engineers as needed 

  • Analytical personality; curious & driven to explore why things are happening 

  • Desire to run and eventually troubleshoot & create automated tests using in-house scripting tools or common industry tools such as Postman or JMeter. 

  • Nice to have: Experience working in a software development environment, preferably on a QA team, technical support, or as a programmer

  • Nice to have: Experience with Windows environments 

  • Nice to have: Experience with cloud platforms, especially cloud databases and security

  • Nice to have: A professional or educational background in statistics, psychology/experimental design, mathematics, computer science, software engineering

  • Nice to have: Experience with R and/or Python
