TIBCO Rendezvous 7

This exam will be retired on July 31, 2008. All certifications based on this exam will expire one year later on July 31, 2009.

On August 1, 2008 a new TIBCO Rendezvous 8 certification exam will be released.

This test will certify that the successful candidate has important knowledge and skills necessary to successfully develop, deploy, and administer a TIBCO Rendezvous messaging solution.

  • Exam duration: 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • Percentage correct to pass the exam: 61%


Successful candidates for the TIBCO Rendezvous 7 exam will have general experience with and knowledge of system administration, basic network architecture and network protocols with a basic (reading) knowledge of Java and/or C/C++ programming languages. It is recommended that candidates have three months active experience developing and administering a TIBCO Rendezvous messaging solution involving the use and administration of TIBCO Rendezvous Qualities of Service (fault tolerance, load balancing, certified messaging, virtual circuit), runtime components (rvd, rvrd, rva, rvcache), use of TIBCO Rendezvous tools (rvperf, rvtrace), and knowledge of TIBCO Rendezvous Service Group configuration (transport, daemon, network parameters). Also, it is recommended the candidates have knowledge of the information contained in the Rendezvous 7 product documentation (Technical Publications). Additionally, successful candidates will have mastered the topics outlined below.

Recommended General Experience

General experience with and knowledge of system administration, basic network architecture and network protocols. Basic (reading) knowledge of Java and/or C/C++ programming languages.

      • Describe how the RVFT library is used to create FT process instances.

      • Identify inefficient construction of messages.
      • Recognize improper subject name space usage.
    • Event Processing
      • Explain how to implement event processing.
    • Messaging Paradigms
      • Define each of the messaging paradigms, and given a scenario identify the proper messaging paradigm.
  • Installation/Configuration
    • Configure Rendezvous Daemon
      • Given a scenario, select the proper transport parameters, or proper command line arguments.
      • Explain how to properly configure Secure Daemons.
    • Configure Rendezvous Routing Daemon
      • Given scenario, select the proper configuration.
    • Install Rendezvous
      • Given a scenario, select the proper configuration.
      • Describe Rendezvous licensing files and file locations.
