Frequently Asked Questions

Who can apply to be a member?

Applicants must be nonprofit higher education institutions offering undergraduate and/or postgraduate degrees in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, and related areas.

How many contacts are allowed per institution?

Two faculty members will be designated as authorized contacts for software downloads and access to technical support where this option is acquired.

Are we entitled to training on TIBCO products?

Subject to availability on scheduled training courses, TIBCO will provide up to 5 days free training each for three named individuals from the member institution at a TIBCO Learning Center. Preferential rates for additional training classes are available to member institutions.

The training offer applies to TIBCO products only, and not to any TIBCO Spotfire products.

Do we get access to technical support?

If your institution has opted for the Support Package, you are entitled to access technical support and create up to 15 inquiries (service requests) per year.

Who can access the Community Forums?

Faculty members can access any of the Community Forums, which are monitored by TIBCO Engineering resources and other users on a regular basis.

How do we get access to the software and documentation?

Once membership has been approved, access details for the TIBCO download site and/or the Spotfire download site will be sent to the authorized contact(s) for the faculty. All the eligible software and documentation is downloadable from this site.

How do we get certified on TIBCO Software?

Certification tests are available for specific products and are administered by a third party. It is recommended that you follow the pre-requisite training course(s) before taking the certification test. For more details, Certification Program

Can TIBCO help advise on where best to introduce TIBCO solutions in the curriculum?

Assistance will be provided on request by course architects to define the training curriculum most appropriate for TIBCO solutions.

Can we use TIBCO solutions for our own applications in a production environment?

No. If an institution wants to deploy TIBCO software for uses other than educational purposes, licenses need to be purchased by the institution. For more details, please contact:

What is expected of member institutions?

Member institutions are expected to sign an agreement with TIBCO defining the terms and conditions of program membership. The annual membership fee is $500 US. Member institutions are required to produce a report per semester describing the use of TIBCO software in their teaching curriculum or research.
