Virgin Mobile Selects TIBCO Software to Provide Business Application Integration
World's Premier Virtual Network Operator Deploys TIBCO ActiveEnterprise to Seamlessly Integrate Gateway Services
LONDON, UK, February 20, 2002 - TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX) today announced that Virgin Mobile, the UK's fifth network, and the world's most successful mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), has selected TIBCO's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) infrastructure to provide application integration across its business systems.
Since its launch in November 1999, Virgin Mobile has attracted more than 1.5 million customers, and is now established as the most successful virtual network operator in the world. The company's success has been built upon its attention to customer needs, and by offering an honest, good-value deal, while providing exciting and innovative services to its expanding customer base.
For this project, Virgin Mobile will initially use TIBCO IntegrationManager, a member of the TIBCO ActiveEnterprise product family. TIBCO will produce an integrated platform on which Virgin Mobile can base its gateway services, enabling automated interaction with trading partners, suppliers and customers. In the future Virgin Mobile's gateway services will provide the ability to broker other vendors' products and services, and charge for them in a seamless environment.
TIBCO Software was chosen over its competitors because it was the best solution for providing the scalability and flexibility required for the company's future. Virgin Mobile's primary reason for choosing TIBCO was that it was able to add new functionality quickly. Due to the nature of its virtual network status, Virgin Mobile wanted to interact with new partners and offer new services without having to develop complex integrations based on various technologies.
"Virgin Mobile sees this implementation as an investment in its future. With an integrated platform provided by TIBCO, Virgin Mobile will be able to add new products and services and interact with new partners quickly and easily", said Jon Kandiah, technical services director, Virgin Mobile. "Virgin Mobile is confident that this investment in its business infrastructure will provide a significant competitive advantage, whilst delivering even greater levels of customer satisfaction."
"Virgin Mobile already has the position as number one virtual network operator in the world, and now it is seizing the chance to increase its lead over the competition by implementing a solution that allows it to seamlessly integrate new services and add new trading partners," said Erik Hansen, president EMEA for TIBCO. "Virgin Mobile is leading the way in mobile services and implementing the TIBCO solution can only help to enhance its offerings."
