TIBCO Software to Implement Business Integration Platform for TUI InfoTec
Europe's largest travel group selects TIBCO for its EAI Platform
Munich, Germany, February 04, 2002 - TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX) today announced today its business integration solutions have been selected by TUI InfoTec, the information technology subsidiary of Preussag, Europe's largest travel group. Preussag, which owns the tourism subsidiaries TUI and Thomson Travel Group, will use TIBCO's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solution to manage both the 137,000 beds offered by the Group's own 270 hotels, as well as facilities at external contracting hotels.
The system will be used throughout the Group, allowing immediate access to up-to-date information, and making it possible to react in real-time to changes in circumstances such as weather conditions, air traffic disruptions or current happenings at destination resorts. Besides optimizing processes, Preussag will also benefit from a high level of transparency in its booking operations. TIBCO's solution will reduce costs and heighten the reliability of travel operations.
Large corporate enterprises are today faced with the challenge of bringing historically diverse information technology (IT) environments under one roof. In order to protect existing investments, the ideal solution is to implement an integration platform to link applications at a higher level. This is precisely the effect achieved by TIBCO's integration solutions as it allows information from a wide variety of applications to be accessed at any time via a simple browser window.
"Preussag's own 270 hotels represent the starting point of an integration process which will embrace the whole Group. The various hotel chains, including such well-known names as RIU and Grecotel, possess systems which have developed and proven themselves over time," explained Reinhard Staroste, software engineering manager at TUI InfoTec. "With technology from TIBCO we are bringing the various tour operator systems under one roof, which in turn will give us far greater transparency in terms of capacity utilization and costs. We will also be able to access qualitative information on local conditions at our resorts - from the state of the hotel to whether the sun is shining."
Integration leads to cost optimization and improved capacity utilization. Preussag also expects to save on costs by integrating operations in Great Britain, Scandinavia and Germany. Contract management will benefit significantly with current terms, conditions and contract data - such as new hotel suites and facilities - can be integrated immediately.
