Montana, Elway Signed Football to Benefit eBay's "Auction for America"

TIBCO's Roger Craig Gets Ball Signed at "Say Goodbye to Mile High" Game in Denver

PALO ALTO, Calif., October 02, 2001 - A football from the "Say Goodbye to Mile High" flag football game held recently at Denver's original Mile High Stadium and personally signed by Joe Montana and John Elway – two of pro football's all–time greatest quarterbacks – will be up for sale to the highest bidder as part of eBay's "Auction for America." Both players signed the ball during the game at half time. The event was the last game ever played at the old Mile High stadium.

TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ: TIBX) of Palo Alto, Calif., is donating the ball and all proceeds to eBay's "Auction for America," which is raising funds for those affected by the events of September 11.

"Fear can be conquered," said former San Francisco 49ers running back Roger Craig, a player on Joe Montana's all–star flag football team and presently a business affairs director for TIBCO. "By working and giving together, we will overcome these tragedies and without fear build a better world for all."

Craig scored three touchdowns in SuperBowl XIX, still an unbroken Superbowl combined receiving/rushing record. In 1985, Craig became the only player in NFL history to gain 1,000 yards both rushing and receiving, rushing for 1,050 yards and catching 92 passes for 1,016 yards. During their respective careers, Montana and Elway made a combined seven Super Bowl appearances. By the end of 2004, his first year of eligibility, Elway is expected to join Montana in the Professional Football Hall of Fame.

Craig encouraged both Montana and Elway to sign the one-of-a-kind ball knowing it would be donated to the auction with the proceeds going to the eBay online auction.

Announced by New York Governor George Pataki and New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on September 17, "Auction for America" is eBay's online charity effort that allows people around the world to buy and sell goods online to raise money for the victims, their families and communities affected by the horrific events of September 11. The company has challenged itself, through its community of 34 million registered users, to raise $100 million in 100 days.
