ScottishPower Selects TIBCO Software for Its Global Enterprise Integration Platform
Enterprise license agreement signed with ScottishPower Group
London and Palo Alto, CA, August 13, 2001 – TIBCO Software Inc. (Nasdaq: TIBX) today announced that ScottishPower has chosen TIBCO's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) solutions as its worldwide standard for corporate-wide integration. The licence agreement also includes TIBCO's business process management (BPM), Business–to–Business integration (B2B) and portal solutions, which will make it significantly easier for the company to sell to, market and serve its seven million customers.
ScottishPower's vision is to reshape and improve their existing business processes and be able to integrate new businesses now and in the future. TIBCO's process management and EAI offerings will enable ScottishPower to streamline its internal processes and transform its business into a more dynamic organization. Additionally, TIBCO's solution for business-to-business integration will allow ScottishPower to easily integrate new applications and processes in support of its development as a leading global energy company.
"We chose TIBCO because of its proven track record to deliver an end–to–end integration solution on a common and robust platform across all areas of our business, both internally and externally," said David Jones, group chief information officer for ScottishPower. "Only TIBCO has the end-to-end solution that allows customers to evolve and grow."
With the addition of TIBCO's full suite of business integration software, ScottishPower will be able to create a better integrated global energy trading business across both the U.S.A. and U.K., while continuing to streamline its asset businesses and improve its customer service. ScottishPower sees TIBCO's integration platform as a key component to the success of its energy trading P&L within the first 12 months of its operation.
Jones added "Energy trading is a key focus for ScottishPower and currently we believe that TIBCO is the clear industry leader."
"We are delighted to be extending our relationship with ScottishPower," said Erik Hansen, president for TIBCO EMEA. "With the deregulation of the energy sector and subsequent consolidation, the seamless flow of information through ScottishPower and its value web of customers and suppliers will be a strategic asset. It is an exciting time in the energy sector and we look forward to partnering with ScottishPower to enable them to implement new revenue opportunities as well as differentiate their customer service."
