Kabira to Provide Telecom Service Engines for TIBCO Software Inc. e-business Infrastructure Customer

Kabira and TIBCO Present and Discuss Detailed Business and Technical Benefits of New Solution at OSS 2001 in New Orleans

New Orleans, Louisiana (OSS 2001 Conference), February 05, 2001 - Kabira Technologies, Inc., a provider of infrastructure software for the rapid deployment of next-generation services delivered over the Internet, wireless and wireline networks, today unveiled new technology that will allow telecom service providers operating in TIBCO-powered OSS environments to rapidly create and deploy Telecom Service Engines. Telecom Service Engines give telecom service providers a platform where new network-based services can be rapidly created, deployed and then scaled to meet increased customer demand for new services.

Telecom providers operating in TIBCO-powered OSS environments will be able to use Telecom Service Engines to rapidly launch new service applications, mediate events across networks, and create new service logic for next-generation services.

Telecom Service Engines are already being used to support the rapid creation and deployment of custom network service applications in other telecom operating systems. Telecom service providers need to create and use custom network service applications in order to differentiate themselves from the competition, and to continually add value to carrier-class networks. Telecom Service Engines scale, deliver reliable application services demanded by carrier-class telecom networks, and go beyond simply supporting Web services. Examples include: seamless Internet and wireless messaging services; integrated network mediation; service provisioning; VPN services, and support for new SoftSwitch frameworks that enable packet voice and content delivery services.

"Companies competing through deployment of network-based services must innovate under severe time-to-market pressure," said Grover Righter, vice president of technical strategy for Kabira. "In addition, experience shows that complete service offerings are best deployed over proven e-business infrastructures, which are provided by industry leaders like TIBCO. Kabira and TIBCO have formed a strategic alliance in order to address these multiple requirements."

"Telecom service providers need to be able to rapidly create, deploy and scale new services in order to meet the consistently increasing demands of business customers and deregulation based competition," said Fred Meyer, TIBCO's chief marketing officer. "Telecom Service Engines allow innovative network services to be created, delivered, and scaled at unmatched speeds, a feature that allows companies to set the standard in service delivery, and differentiate themselves from the competition.
